The semi-finals took place at 10.00am on 13th July 2022 at Dartmouth House, the home of the English-Speaking Union. They were between Oxford Brookes University v King’s College London and Queen’s University Belfast v Cambridge University. The finalists, Oxford Brookes and Cambridge University went head-to-head in the grand final which was held at 6pm in the evening at the Supreme Court, and was judged by Mr. Justice Jacobs, The Hon. Mrs Justice Sara Cockerill and Mr. Roderick Cordara KC. The mooters from Oxford Brookes were declared the winners. As well as having their names engraved on the Silver Mace, the winners will be awarded a prize of £1,000 each, whilst the University of Cambridge also receive a donation of £1,000. The members of the running-up team will receive £750 each. All four finalists will be offered a mini pupillage at Essex Court Chambers. The winners of the ESU-Essex Court Chambers Mooting Competition will represent the UK in the Commonwealth Mooting Competition during the years in which the Commonwealth Moot takes place. This completes another successful year for the Competition, now in its 51st year.
