The semi-finals took place at 10.00am on 20th June 2023 at Dartmouth House, the home of the English-Speaking Union. They were between Oxford Brookes University v London Metropolitan University and the University of Southampton v Dundee University.

The finalists, the University of Southampton and London Metropolitan University, went head-to-head in the grand final which was held at 6pm in the evening at the Royal Courts of Justice and was judged by the Rt. Hon. Lady Justice Andrews, Mr. Charles Ciumei KC and Mr. Stephen Houseman KC. The mooters from the University of Southampton were declared the winners.

As well as having their names engraved on the Silver Mace, the winners will be awarded a prize of £1,000 each, whilst the University of Southampton also receive a donation of £1,000. The members of the running-up team will receive £750 each. All four finalists will be offered a mini pupillage at Essex Court Chambers. The winners of the ESU-Essex Court Chambers Mooting  This completes another successful year for the Competition, now in its 52nd year.
